"Electronic Armaggedon"

On the National Geographic channel, sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, is a show (an introduction for it on 33-minutes.com) on the dangers the U.S. faces over the possibility of a nuclear device being detonated over the atmosphere, creating an electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) that could send us back into the nineteenth century in an instant. A re-airing is scheduled for tomorrow night.

A cool mini physics lecture and a guy saying, as if it needed saying, "It's a game-changer." Yeah think?

I bet Iran is thinking about it. And what are we doing to shield the electronic grid? Nothing. We're too busy mailing Social Security checks and the like. No money left over.

All we have to do to see what America might look like after an EMP attack is watch episodes of Dark Angel. It portrayed America "After The Pulse" and it wasn't pretty.
