Bottom line, it's the big gubmit paternalists who have lost faith in the people, Mr. President, as measured by their (and your) advocacy for gun control. This often translates into people being denied the choice of whether to defend themselves using concealed handguns or rely solely on the state to protect them.
With 11 to 14 million violent crimes reported annually by the FBI, it behooves one to be proactive in his or her defense. I gotta join the NRA, dammit.
UPDATE: If one wants to prune a city tree in Portland, Oregon, one is required to first obtain a permit. Gubmit running amok. Don't forget the role of the king's pines in our War for Independence. Citizens now suffer far greater injustice at the hands of our political overlords than colonists did then at the hands of Parliament and King George III.
